Staff Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) – Bare Metal Infrastructure | Web3

I’m hiring on behalf of a stealth-mode, well-funded Web3 organisation building high-performance, globally distributed infrastructure for next-generation decentralized systems. The team includes senior engineers from leading Web3, distributed systems, and trading environments.
They are entering a pivotal stage of development and are looking to bring on a Staff SRE with deep expertise in bare-metal infrastructure to help drive the reliability and performance of their foundational systems.
The Role This role is based in New York and focuses on architecting, deploying, and optimising a global fleet of bare-metal servers that underpin high-throughput, low-latency blockchain and network operations.
You’ll work closely with core protocol engineers, distributed systems teams, and networking specialists to ensure the production environment remains fast, resilient, and scalable. This is a high-impact position with significant ownership over infrastructure direction and system design.
Key Responsibilities
  • Architect and operate bare-metal infrastructure across global data centres
  • Lead provisioning, tuning, and optimisation of high-performance server hardware
  • Ensure low-latency, high-throughput performance across compute and networking layers
  • Build automation, tooling, and observability for hardware-centric environments
  • Develop and maintain CI/CD workflows for hybrid hardware/software deployments
  • Lead incident response and drive long-term reliability improvements
  • Partner closely with protocol and systems engineers to support production-grade distributed systems
Requirements
  • 8+ years in SRE, systems, platform, or infrastructure engineering
  • Expertise with bare-metal systems, including provisioning, BIOS/firmware tuning, and OS optimisation
  • Deep understanding of Linux internals and kernel-level performance tuning
  • Experience with low-latency or high-throughput systems
  • Strong networking knowledge: TCP/UDP, routing, switching, BGP, latency optimisation
  • Automation experience with IaC and tooling (Ansible, Terraform, custom scripts, etc.)
  • Strong scripting or programming ability (Python, Go, Bash)
  • Experience running distributed systems or blockchain infrastructure at scale
Nice to Have
  • Experience in Web3 (validator operations, node infrastructure, L1/L2 systems)
  • Exposure to hardware acceleration (DPDK, RDMA, SmartNICs, FPGA)

Compensation
  • Up to $300,000 base salary
  • Token package with significant upside
  • Additional benefits and flexibility
  • Based in New York
